Benjamin's research focuses on the theoretical and empirical analysis of trade, foreign direct investment, and migration. He has published in journals such as Journal of International Economics, Review of International Economis, and Economics Letters. He is funded under the University's Research Funding Programme for Young Scientists.
Benjamin holds a doctoral degree in Economics from the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen (2009). His dissertation project "Unpacking Trade Costs: Theory and Evidence" was awarded by the RWT Group, a regional business service provider. Benjamin also won the "Young Economist Award" of the Swiss Society of Economics and Statistics (2009).
Benjamin is CESifo Research Network Member. He visited the Paris School of Economics (France) under an Agence Nationale de Recherche Post-Doctoral grant (Spring 2010). He temporarily held the Chair of International and Monetary Macroeconomics at the University of Konstanz (Winter term 2010/11) and the Chair in International Economics at the University of Hohenheim (Summer term 2011).
